Aadhaar Enrolment for Non-Resident Indian

Aadhaar For NRI

Since it has been made mandatory for all the citizens of India to enroll for Aadhaar Card, all the Indian Citizen who are non-residents also have to apply for Aadhar Card. This also includes all the NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) who have income sources in the country as well.

Aadhaar Card is available for all the Indian Citizens whether residents or non-residents and resident foreign nationals free of any cost regardless of their nationality.

For all those NRIs who wish to apply for Aadhaar will have to be physically present at any Aadhaar Enrolment Center in-order to submit their applications. This will help NRIs to get jobs in the government sector when they return back to India.

Application Criteria for NRIs

  • The person has to be physically present at any Aadhaar Enrolment Center.
  • The person has to be above the age of 3 years.
  • The person has to be an Indian Citizen.
  • Foreigners are also eligible for Aadhaar enrolment.

Documents required for NRIs Aadhaar Enrolment

NRIs who are willing to apply for Aadhaar Card must have few basic documents with them when they visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Center. These documents include:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Photo ID Proof
  • School Certificate.
  • Any document that presents the proof of the NRI’s relationship to another country.

All of these documents are verified by the Government Official and the related authorities to validate them and found if they are eligible for the Aadhaar Card.

Process of Aadhaar Enrolment for NRIs

After the documents have been verified, the applicants have to provide biometric information which is then verified and linked to the information collected through the submitted documents.

This includes;

Fingerprint Scanning

Applicants have to register the fingerprints of all of their 10 fingers which are stored against the applicant’s name in the government database.

IRIS Scanning

Applicants will also have to provide a scan of their Iris which is conducted at Aadhaar Enrolment centers.

Photograph

A photograph of the applicant will also be taken at the spot which will be then used on the Aadhaar Card. Stored photographs are not accepted for Aadhaar Enrolment.

After all of this is done, the applicants are provided with an acknowledgment number through which they can track the status of their Aadhaar application. The normal time for Aadhaar creation and dispatching is around 90 days.
